Sport activities on Rhodes island

Movement is the watchword when you're spending your vacation on Rhodes. The commitment to being well and physical activities has led to the development of structures able to stimulate even the laziest. Either on the organized beaches or on the remote tranquil ones, at the pools or at any spot where the sea dallies with the shores of Rhodes, swimming is one of the most beautiful ways for sports. - The beautiful beaches and the sea are ideal for movements and sports.

It's like Paradise for water sport enthusiasts. Rhodes offers a fantastic opportunity for those, who like to try something little different. On an island as hospitable as Rhodes, sports are a big pleasure. Sea sports collect plenty people, both local and foreigner, on the beaches to enjoy the bounty of nature and the hot sun. 

Windsurfing: A favorite pastime on Rhodes - . Tuition is available from beginner to advanced level. On the eastern shores of the island even the most inexperienced can taste the magic of the sea while on the western shores the more experienced will be enjoyably challenged by the large waves coming in from the open sea.

Paragliding: The most relaxing of all the water sports. Let the wind and boat do all the work as you glide through the air. A truly wonderful experience, offering a bird's-eye view of the surrounding area.
And last, but not least, the water slides and paddle boats for rent - big fun for kids and dads. 

Movement and sportive activities, on Rhodes, does not end at the beach. Everything and anything can be found here from Clay pigeon shooting in Kiotari to Go Karts in Lardos and Faliraki, horse riding in Theologos, Kalithies and Ialyssos or scuba diving in Kalithea. In Faliraki you'll find the fasted blast to the stars. There are you'll find Bungee Jumping. 


There are plenty of other sports you can practice. With the exceptional scenario, golf enthusiasts can find a picturesque green in Afandou. The 18 hole golf court is situated directly at the beach.
Designed by British golf architect David Harradine, Afandou's 18-hole championship golf course (par 72) is the only one on the island and has a beautiful outlook over the beach. Professionals rate the course as challenging but fair. Facilities, open all year round, include a clubhouse with bar, changing rooms and equipment hire. The Rhodes Open is held here in October. Open 7.30 until dusk. 

Rhodes is excellent for snorkeling, fishing and spear fishing, all are allowed if the fish is heavier than 150 grams, by law. 

Most of the big Hotels do have their own tennis courts, some of them even have gymnasiums with an impressive range of machines, which have become increasingly popular over the last ten years for body building and aerobics. You'll also find basket,-squash,- beach volley- or racquetball courts and other sport facilities.
In Faliraki you'll find a five-a-side football pitch and two crazy-golf centers - one also offers rounds of pit-pat - a kind of "crazy snooker", played at tables. Last but not least there are swimming pools of all shapes and sizes and a very big Water Fun Park in Faliraki.

Rhodes is a hiking paradise and many Europeans come here in April to May and September to October to walk the mountain trails and donkey paths here and the nearby island of Symi.
