Afandou village, on the East coast of
Rhodes island
Afandou is a quite resort. It
boasts several modern hotels, apartments and studios, where you can be assured
of the famous Greek hospitality. Awaiting you a hundreds of years of history
and traditions to be discovered. It's one of the biggest traditional villages on
the island. Here you'll find numerous of bars, cafes, restaurants and clubs, to
choose from. Cooking has always been one of the strong points of hospitality and
culture in Afandou.
Afandou is situated
slightly inland amid low hills and surrounded by olive groves. It could not be
seen off the coast by marauding pirates, hence the name Afandou, which
means invisible. In this bustling little village, a more relaxed
atmosphere is to be found here as to be compared to the neighboring resort
Faliraki. The village square is the place to be day and night, take time out and
step for a drink in one of the many cafe bars and just watch the people go by.
Afandou has a lovely
long sandy and
shingle beach with numerous of water sports. Here within an
exceptional scenario, golf enthusiasts can find a beautiful green. The only one
on Rhodes. The excellent 18
hole golf court,
is situated directly at the beach. The clubhouse contains changing rooms, a bar
as well as a shop renting golf equipment. How about cycling through the
countryside or a nice stroll? For those feeling less active, they can relax at
the long beach, which is clean with pebbles in place of sand. Along the beach
promenade you'll find several tavernas and cantinas.
